PNGase A

Categories: Glossary: Glycosylation

Definition

PNGase A is an enzyme which cleaves N-linked oligosaccharides from proteins or peptides. It cleaves between the innermost GlcNAc and Asparagine amino-acid resulting in a deaminated protein and free glycan. It cleaves N-linked oligosaccharides from high mannose, hybrid and short complex oligosaccharides such as those found in plant and insect cells.

In contrast to PNGaseF, it will also cleave where a (1,3)-linked core fucose is present.
